Groundless

In this pamphlet, I wanted to talk about my cultural roots, and what it’s like to be biracial. I photographed dirt and placed it throughout the composition on the first side. Signifying my cultural background, its very careful and specific placement shows how strongly my origins have shaped my life. I additionally laser cut the word ‘groundless’ in acrylic, as the transparency of the material conveys the detachment I often feel from my roots, being constantly torn between two different cultures.

The inside of the pamphlet only features acrylic lettering, layered with a mixture of black and pale beige text. The black text, clearer and easier to read, presents basic information about myself. The pale text is more personal, unraveling thoughts I’ve never before confessed. Readers have to lean in closer, and put in more effort to access this information.
